Johanna Drucker - Diagrammatic writing

Johanna Drucker is a scholar who is, among other things, interested in the usage of typography in avant-garde literature. In the work we selected, she experiments with in-between spaces herself via theoretical reflections. On page 10, she writes about how open spaces on the page have an influence on readers and their interpretation – “the nothing that is here produces a certain anxiety…” – and on page 25, she argues how the reference of a footnote creates an open space, which is “the space leapt over. Not left.”
